Free invoice generator
Create a professional invoice in minutes, send it to your client as a PDF, and see at a glance when it is paid. InvoiceNow is free forever for one user, with unlimited invoices and quotations and no card required.
How to create an invoice
- 1
Add your business details
Enter your company name, address, tax number and banking details once. They appear on every invoice you create, so your client always knows who is billing them and where to pay.
- 2
Add your client
Save the client's name, address and email. InvoiceNow checks the email address can receive mail before you send anything, so an invoice does not disappear into a typo.
- 3
Add what you are charging for
List each item with a description, quantity, unit price and any discount, then set your tax rate. Totals are calculated for you, and you can save products and services to your catalog to reuse them.
- 4
Choose the currency
Bill the client in the currency they pay in. The exchange rate that applied on the day is recorded on the invoice itself, so your reports later use the right figure.
- 5
Download or email the invoice
Download a professional PDF, or email it straight to your client from InvoiceNow. The invoice gets its number when you issue it, and numbers run in sequence.
- 6
Record the payment
Mark the invoice as paid when the money arrives. Any invoice still unpaid after its due date is flagged overdue automatically every day, so you always know who to follow up with.
What a professional invoice includes
A client pays faster when nothing on the invoice needs a follow-up question. Every InvoiceNow invoice carries the details a client and an accountant expect:
- A unique invoice number, issued in sequence
- The issue date and the date payment is due
- Your business details and your client's details
- Each item with its quantity, price and any discount
- Tax, the total, and the currency it is billed in
- Your banking details, so the client knows exactly where to pay
- A verification code the client can use to confirm the invoice is genuine
Built for clients in other countries
Plenty of invoice generators let you pick a currency. InvoiceNow is built for the business whose clients pay in dollars, euros, pounds or rand. Each invoice keeps the exchange rate from the day it was issued, and a client statement shows what is owed in each currency separately, because adding two currencies into one total gives a number nobody actually owes.
Read more in our guide: why one total is wrong on a multi-currency statement.
From quotation to invoice
Send a quotation first, and when the client says yes, turn it into an invoice with one action. The items, prices and client details carry across, so you never retype the job you have already won.
Questions
- Is the invoice generator really free?
- Yes. The Free plan costs nothing, needs no card, and includes unlimited invoices and quotations for one user. Paid plans add more users and extra capability, never a cap on how much you can bill.
- Can I invoice a client in another currency?
- Yes. Choose the currency on the invoice and InvoiceNow records the exchange rate that applied that day. Client statements keep each currency separate instead of adding them into one misleading total.
- Can my client check that an invoice is genuine?
- Yes. Each issued document carries a verification code that confirms the document number, your company name, the amount and the issue date against our records.
- Can I turn a quotation into an invoice?
- Yes. When a client accepts a quotation, convert it into an invoice without retyping a single line.
- Can clients pay the invoice online?
- Not yet. Online payments, payment links, recurring invoices and automatic reminders are not available today. Your client pays you by bank transfer to the details printed on the invoice, and you mark it paid.
